Mount Saint Helens in summer is almost like viewing another planet; appearing desert-like from the lack of vegetation near the mountain, while flood water tributaries cut through the earth, meandering across the landscape.
Hiking around Lighthouse Point took me near some wonderful, watch-your-footing cliff side views. I trekked along the edge of this rocky channel on the way back. Without a rope or a rowboat, that tiny beach will leave you caught between a rock and a hard place!
